"Crazy in Love" Air Date  2-22-12

It's amazing how easily Johnny is able to be the puppet master of the group.  Camilla starts freaking out and something that should be 100% his problem, he somehow is able to pass off onto Paula and the other girls and make it into their problem.  And the most interesting thing about it is no one ever calls him on it, for years now he has had these entire games wrapped around his finger and no one ever tries to cut the head off the snake.

Wow, are they actually doing a challenge that doesn't take place over water.  I bet this was originally designed to be played in the water, but there was no way to keep them from hitting the poles if they fell, so they had to switch it to land and give them safety wires.

Maybe the fact that the power couple never seems to go last has to do with trying to protect teams that they feel are weaker.  If Johnny lets Paula go last she has a better shot at not being the team that comes in last place.  This keeps his friends safe and also makes a team that he knows he can beat one step closer to the final.  So it ends up being a win-win for Johnny.

Why was there a random Red Bull bin in the background at the challenge.  It was just sitting in the middle of the beach.

I would like to see a stat sheet of how all the competitors do in the challenge, like they do on Top Shot.  I think it would be interesting to see how well/bad all of the teams did.

Of course Mark did great at this challenge.  He's like a foot taller than everyone else, where most people had to take a giant leap to get to the next platform, he just had to take a big step.

I don't see what advantage Mark and Robin have in winning this Duel, they are on good terms with Johnny and Camilla, so they wouldn't be going into the arena anyway. There is no prize or money to be won in coming in first, so all that will happen is they will have to pick the other team to send to the arena.  Why bother, keep your hands clean and let Johnny get more blood on his hands.  Now they are going to have to worry if Ty and Emily ever win a challenge, where as before if Ty and Emily won they would have put in Paula and Dunbar.

Fighting before a duel, that is going to put Abe and Cara in a bad head place right before an elimination.

Really MTV, you couldn't afford to spend a little extra money and have more than three elimination challenges.  While I am glad that this was always the plan and Tyrie didn't get hosed last week, it seems low rent to not have a new challenge every single week.  They could have at least used the giant cards like they have in seasons past.

Abe didn't seem to have his head in the game during the Arena.  If you look back at his other elimination challenges, he has always come with an unmitigated intensity and this time there didn't seem to be any fire there.

"Extreme Flavor" Air Date 2-26-12

The chefs seem to be doing less with the contestants this season than they did last year.  I understand that they wanted a blind taste test, but they could have at least overseen them making the dough.

It's bad enough they are these people with no clue how to create a positive flavor free reign on what toppings to use, they are also making them make the pizza sauce. It will be a wonder if any of these pizzas are even edible.  Case in point one guy couldn't find sesame seed to sprinkle on the crust, so he used whole walnuts instead.

I think it was a wise choice by Bobby on who he switched on the teams.  He gained a decent underdog that has potential and lost a slightly floundering middle of the pack cook.  It would seem to make more sense to saddle the other side with your worst cook, but the way this show works with both teams eliminating one person every week all that would have done is give Anne an easy week because she would now have a poor cook that she has no attachment to.  The way he did it he kept his weakest players and therefore will have a couple of easy eliminations for himself.

This season there has been too much invention and not enough recreation.  All of these contestants are bad cooks, that is why they are on the show, they don't need to be challenged to create a good flavor combination, most of them would be challenged to boil water.  They should all be trying to recreate the chefs recipe exactly without having to put their own spin on it.

Bobby seems to have more bad cooks left.  It should make for some easier eliminations for him, but in the end he will be left with fewer choices on who will represent him.

I think Dorthy should have gone over Bob.  While Bob did make a mistake by not trying the peppers he used, Dorthy went back and made the same mistake she had made before.  You would think that his attempt at doing something new would supersede her retreading of the same mistakes over and over.

I would have rather Serena went home over Erica.  While Serena might be a slightly better cook, there is no way she will last more than one or two more weeks, and while Erica deserved to go she was truly entertaining to watch with how flustered and scatterbrained she was about every single thing that they had to do.
