Shows were interrupted with political fall out again this week, but at least they were actually telling us something this time.
I've been looking forward to this show since I first heard Don Cheadle was working on something for Showtime. Then when Kristen Bell joined the cast my expectations grew. I went into this show knowing little about it except who was in it, and I came away mildly impressed.
The show came off as a little over-polished, probably due to it being the first episode. I don't find breaking of the 4th wall to be jarring like some do, but I wonder if it something that will continue through out the series or if it will be forgotten about for financial or lack of creativity reasons.
I liked how they didn't shy away from letting the characters be scumbags. When dealing with a subject like this you should feel like the star would climb over his dead mother to make the deal.
I liked that the previews showed that they will have continued interaction with the bank. I prefer this to a more episodic show where in every episode at the last he comes up with the clever pitch to land the client and save the day. But I do hope that they have dealings with other clients so its not just about this bank.
I'm going to wait to talk about a few things in the show to see how they play out. Most importantly his relationship with his son, his relationship with his team, and the rest of his team in general. I've heard the next two episodes are even better than this one.
It's the first nomination day in the house! Nominations are usually my favorite episodes because you find out where everyone really stands with everyone else, and there is almost always a surprise that you never saw coming.
Pretty standard first nomination episode. Everyone's noms were all over the place as there has been no real blowups or unlikable people yet. Also there really hasn't been any groups formed yet.
Andrew must be annoying because its almost always 2 girls up first. It's usually the pretty girls that get voted out first, but if he keeps sulking around like he was last night I wouldn't be surprised if he got the boot.
I like the immunity twist. I hope it is an ongoing thing because I would like to see someone without a partner get it. As long as it goes to someone who's partner is still there then it is a forgone conclusion as to who they will give it to, but as soon as someone without a partner gets it, then it would become an interesting new wrinkle in the game.
To start the game at 3.8 shows that they either have never watched the show before to know what the numbers are like in week 2 or they are complete idiots. If they got to 3.8 by way of an over excited bidding war and then had the other team dump it on them is one thing, but to start there shows they are idiots and one of them probably should have gone home.
I want to make fun of Chism some more because of his name, but he seems like a good kid.
Isn't everyone on the planet who doesn't have diabetes technically pre-diabetic?
It's nice to see an on camera nutritionist. From everything I know exercise makes up about 40% of weight loss and healthy eating the other 60. So its nice to see more on how and what to eat.
It's reached the point where biggest loser has become a brand. They have a meal plan, they have a paid subscription online group, they ever have a health resort. You would think that they would give all the contestants a 6 month meal plan just so they look their best at the final weigh in. There by increasing their brand presence and inflating its importance.
It's been since around season 3 since there was any hatred between the trainers. It's nice to see some animosity and to have the trainer want to win more for their own ego than just the good of the players.
The show is two hours long, over one of which is just spent weighing in. How is it possible that you don't have enough time to show all the people weighing in?
It's too bad Mike went home. I think he could have made a good heel you love to hate. But that just goes to show how much of a social game it is.
