There hasn't been a post in about a week due to the fact that I have had little free time to watch TV. I'll try to never let this happen again, but sometimes life gets in the way of a good time.
"Jennifer's Arch" Air Date 1-31-12
It seems Jarrett has mechanical problems every single episode. I would think that if I were going to start long haul shipping I would want more than a passing knowledge of auto mechanics. I'm not saying that I would want to be able to rebuild an engine but I'd want more knowledge than how to change a tire, otherwise you are at the mercy of what ever garage you can find if something goes wrong.
How is it possible that Jarrett is three days late with two different deliveries and both customer still gives him four stars?
Are they going to leave that DDR clone in the dining room? That thing takes up the whole room. And holy crap did that chick go nuts playing that game. I'd always thought the back bar was meant to keep people from falling off backwards, not as a bar to brace your weight so your feet can move that fast. Also Jarrett is over three days late and still has another delivery to make, should he really be sticking around to play the video game?
"Rocco: Kimberly" Air Date 2-2-12
The TiVo recorded this, so I decided to give it another try.
I still find it off putting to see the much skinner faced people talking at the beginning of the episode. It breaks the fourth wall too much for my taste.
One of the trainers is Brett from season 11 of The Biggest Loser. What a fall from grace that has to be, one minute you're a trainer on a network television show the next you're a rotating trainer on a basic cable show where you get two or three scenes per episode.
Does Rocco only hire idiots? It seems like every interaction he has had with anyone who works for him has resulted in him angry due to idiocy. If he is an angry eater he might need to fire some people just so he can remain on his diet.
If you're cooking out of a food truck and you run out of anything it shouldn't be a big deal. You are in a truck, you can go and get more. I also found it amusing that he made a big deal out of running out of propane, and then ran on foot back to his restaurant to get more. He was within walking distance of more propane and acted like it was the end of the world that they ran out.
I have absolutely no idea how to read blood pressure results. Are higher numbers better? Are lower numbers better? Should the numbers be closer together or farther apart? I have no idea.
I'm surprised Brett didn't try and teach Rocco "capoeira" since that's about all he ever did on the biggest loser.
Another week with basically the same results. The guy gets it and embraces the change, the girl fights everything and everyone and ends up about the same. I'm still not sold on this show, I'll give it one more episode and if it doesn't improve it might get cut.
"Free Vinny" Air Date 1-26-12
This is left over from last week and I don't know how I missed talking about it, but Pauly is 31!!! I had always thought that they were all around 23-25 with Mike being considerably older and around 28. Turns out Pauly is the oldest at 31, Mike is only 29 and the rest are around 26.
So Mike got upset as to how the others were treating him on his birthday and went for a walk to get some air and cool his head and everyone acts like it's the end of the world. To the point that they are threatened with new roommates. Talk about artificial drama. New roommates by the way would make this show very interesting.
It must be so surreal to have to go and work a low level job at the t-shirt store and sell clothes containing slogans and phrases that you made up. If you look at the shirts they are selling it's all "GTL" and "T-shirt time" stuff. The only thing that comes close to this is Spider-Man, working his secret identity selling pictures of himself to the newspaper.
They only ever go to Karma, why do they always ask each other where they are going out to that night? Of course right after I write that they would go somewhere other than Karma.
Has Deena ever used an alarm clock before?
I understand that when it's a random hook up, to show them the door after you call a cab, but if you like a girl and they have footage of you giving interviews talking about how much you like this girl. It would seem that you should know they are going to cut the footage of you saying how much you like her into video of her sitting outside alone waiting for a cab. If you really like her Mike be a gentleman and wait for the cab with her.
Oh, look Vinnys back, to the surprise of almost no one. Like he would leave the cash cow that this show has become. I wonder how long he was really gone for. I'd say less than a week but longer than a weekend.
"Danger faces new challenges" Air Date 1-30-12
So he committed a crime in 2005 and he hasn't been sentenced until 2012, American justice hard at work.
Is danger going to get paid for running the gym? I'd love to set up a business and then tell someone else to run it and not pay them for doing it. I also don't see how he can be an active fighter and handle the amount of work, both physical and mental that goes into running a business.
In wrestling the girls who show up to events and want to sleep with the wrestlers are called "rats" or "ring rats". I wonder what they are called in MMA?
You would think that John Wesley would see if he could still go, before taking a fight. It seems asinine to think because you were good at something five years ago and you haven't kept up your conditioning that it will be like riding a bike and you will have no problems jumping right back into it.
They keep showing Danger in the crowd during John Wesley's fight, shouldn't he be back stage warming up and relaxing before his fight? Unless he is an undercard fighter and MTV is airing things out of order to make him seem like the bigger star.
The ref in John Wesley's fight seems to always be out of place, I suppose amateur fights get more amateur refs.
MMA at this level seems to walk the line between idiot frat boy amateurishness and focused looking to make a career out of this professionalism.
Hmmm.... it is pitch black when they are loading John Wesley into the ambulance and they then cut to Danger training out side and it is just dusk. More proof to the fact that things are shown out of order.
The cage mat seems to be making all the fighters slip. You would have to think there are some governing rules even in amateur events that dictate what the cage is made out of.
