"What's Love Got to Do With It?" Air Date 2-1-12
If Tyrie and Jasmine are dysfunctional, wouldn't that make them more likely to stay in the house. I understand they will bring a level of drama to the house, but if they don't function well as a team they would be someone I would want to see stick around because I know they will be easy to beat since they are not on the same page.
At this point in the Challenge lifetime it seems very clear that challenges will involve heights, falling from heights, and swimming after falling from heights. If any of those things scare you, why would you sign up to do the show?
At least the pole was on a rope, so after Robin bit it the pole didn't fall on top of her.
If Johnny and Camila picked the order, why didn't they go last? Were the heats shown out of order?
In the final heat it looked like Johnny was phoning it in and letting Sara and Vinny win. Smart strategy, let someone else get blood on their hands when it really doesn't matter, and also keep yourself from looking like the over dominant team that everyone is afraid of.
As for the meat of the episode (the Vinny/Mandi situation) all I'm going to write about is what was actually shown. I'm sure there is more to the story than what we saw, but all I can go by is what was actually shown.
When they first showed Mandy out at the club I wrote in my notes that she was in danger of falling out of her top just by walking around and more than likely we were minutes away from pixelated nudity.
As far as what was shown, it seems like Vinny was dancing next to Mandi and everyone was having a good time. When she starts to freak out and they start to blur stuff out, you can see Vinny's hands are nowhere near Mandi at all. In fact he isn't even really paying attention to her at all. I went back and watched it a couple of times and from what they showed I don't see how he could have even accidentally ripped her top off. I would imagine the cameras missed the actual incident and the closest thing they had was some other footage of them together where her top fell off and just used that. It seems like just last season they had another situation where the footage they aired told a different story than what they were telling us happened. I don't remember what it was, but I'm sure it was a MTV show it happened on.
It doesn't seem fair that Sara had to go home also. Last season Leroy didn't have to leave, in fact they replaced his partner with one of his best friends, in direct opposition of the whole "rivals" concept. They could have flown in anyone one to replace Vinny, and if for some reason they couldn't get anyone else what they could have done is the male from the losing team in the dome could have become her new partner. That could have lead to some interesting TV, if Sara ended up paired up with Wes. Both from a standpoint of she sent him into the dome and from the fact that everyone loves her but hates him.
And we have yet another challenge where the rules are not explained that well for the at home viewers. It seemed like half the duels on Rivals I didn't understand how things were supposed to go until it was over. The way they described this challenge I thought the guys were going to go once, then the girls were going to go once, and if there was a tie then the coin toss winners would decide who won.
It is interesting how last season CT was the big enemy that everyone was working together to get rid of and somehow this season its Wes. Even though they both were in both shows they somehow switched places.

New Girl has to be one of if not the best new show this season. It walks the line of being a sitcom that is too goofy, but I think it pulls it off well. Falling somewhere between Community and Happy Endings in the goofy quirky comedy scale. Jess is somehow cutely sincere and cutely annoying all at the same time. She's the kind of girl that you would want to date because she's so sweet and awkward and nerdy, but at the same time she would drive you nuts because she's so sweet and awkward and nerdy.
I'm glad they brought back the douche bag jar. I found it to be a good source for an easy joke. I just hope that in the future it's implemented more casually and not done so rapid fire as it was in this episode.
Schmidt does a good job of playing this overly douchey guy who would attend a party called "Bro's before hoe's on the moon" where the attire is yacht flair, yet is able to come off as loveable and insecure.
I hope Lizzy Caplan has signed on for an extended run as nick's girlfriend. Someone needs to get her a show of her own.
I think everyone on the planet does a bad Bill Cosby impersonation and all of them involve saying "Jell-o pudding pops".
Jess looking to hire a stripper with a heart of gold and also a crotch of gold is one of those loveable dorky moments.
I laughed when the stripper was trying to talk Schmidt into the game by enticing him with the almost 7K he made last year. Basically I found that she accidentally hired a male stripper, who then just decided to hang out pretty funny in general.
Some how my TiVo cuts off the beginning and the ending of this show almost every week. It's not uncommon for it to miss the end of a show, most MTV shows it cuts off the last few seconds. It also happens from time to time to miss the start of a show, lots of times the Simpsons starts halfway through the opening credits. But this is the only show that it cuts off both and it happens all most every week.

I enjoy Raising Hope, and find it to be a good follow up to My Name Is Earl. The hour block of this and New Girl falls only behind Modern Family & Happy Endings/Cougar Town and Community, Parks & Rec, & The Office as best hour of comedy on TV.
I though Burt's "I'd rather be in Virginia" t-shirt was funny, but I was surprised they were able to slip it past the censors.
Goth Jimmy is a great character. They do a good job of using the character but not overusing it. It seems just about the time I've forgotten that Jimmy went through a goth phase they bring it back up.
Fred Willard was a good guest star, but I was hoping for a bigger payoff. I thought for sure they were going to do something with him sniffing glue the whole episode.
I also watched the UFC prelims, and while I normally don't talk about sports but there were two things I wanted to mention.
Two points is a lot to be deducted for a fight is unheard of. I know Herb Dean gave him a strong warning after the first kick, but to take TWO points is unfair and game changing.
I think the fighters who are not of a superstar level would do well to keep there look the same. By that I mean there are lots of guys who look the same (generic fighter with tattoos), then they always seem to change their appearance from fight to fight (sometimes even from video package to fight). All this does is cause confusion and keeps them from being an identifiable character, so if they don't have some remarkable fighting style they seem to end up getting lost in the shuffle. As soon as the UFC finds a way to circumvent this and make all of their fighters instantly recognizable they are going to be the new sport to watch.
